Hanxin College Organised Forensic Workshop with 22 Participants

The "Silent Witness: Forensic Autopsy and the Search for Truth" workshop, organised by Oneworld Hanxin College, attracted 22 members of the public, including primary school students, and received a warm response.

In the first session, forensic expert Dr. Tan Ran Zhi introduced the daily procedures and practical challenges of forensic work. From the initial report from the hospital to the arrival of the body in the morgue, identification, police investigation, and forensic evaluation, all stages must be carried out according to strict procedures. Many participants learned for the first time that forensic work is not limited to autopsy room operations but requires collaboration with the police, hospitals, prosecutors, and families to ensure that every death case is handled legally and procedurally to uncover the truth.

In the second part of the workshop, Tan further explained the basic methods of autopsy, including the examination of thoracic and abdominal organs, and the analysis of the cause of death through organ pathology. The college specially prepared pig hearts and lungs as teaching specimens, allowing participants to observe organ structure and pathological characteristics in a near-realistic setting, deepening their understanding of the key points of forensic examination.

The final segment of the workshop focused on legal and ethical aspects. Forensic pathologist Tan explained to participants the legal rights and procedures available to family members in the face of sudden death, helping the public understand how to make more rational and appropriate judgments and decisions in grieving situations.
